The next meeting is April 17, and you’re warmly invited to the monthly Community Workday at the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park. Gather with us every third Friday of the month from 2:30 to 5:00 pm, with summer hours shifting to 9:00 am to 12:00 pm in June, July, and August. Parking is available at the Stephens-Lee Recreation Center lot. Most workdays are led by the knowledgeable Kelly Applegate of Bountiful Cities, and we provide all necessary tools, along with hand sanitizer, water, and snacks. You’re welcome to bring your own tools or gloves if you have favorites. Activities may include mulching, light tree and shrub pruning, trash pickup, invasive plant clearing, seasonal planting when available, and guided tours of the edible park. These workdays are proudly presented in partnership with the East End/Valley Street Neighborhood Association and Bountiful Cities, with additional collaboration from the City of Asheville Sustainability Department, and with supplies for trash pickup generously provided by Asheville GreenWorks. For any last-minute updates, please check the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park Facebook page, before heading out. For more information, you can contact Kelly at kelly@bountifulcities.org

We look forward to seeing you for a day of community, sustainability, and fun!
